Electrodynamic catapulting of massive objects

These days we are witnessing several profound transformations of military technologies. Gradual transition from the technique of catapulting projectiles by means of some explosives to the technique of propelling them by means of pulsed electromagnetic field is among such revolutionary transformations. NCBJ has means and know-how necessary to actively enter that field of research with the objective to improve national defence potential.

This will be the last one from the series of NCBJ FM2 Division seminars devoted to the topic of superconducting cathodes.

Anna Kosińska will be talking on improving adhesion of Pb layers deposited on Nb substrates. Superconducting cathodes for highly efficient electron sources for linear electron accelerators were a practical application motivating that research. The technology of intense pulses of hot plasma was used.

Second seminar from a series of progress reports from developmental works done in the NCBJ FM-2 division on superconducting lead-on-niobium photocathodes for electron accelerators. The series will be concluded on February 3, 2016 with a presentation by Eng. Anna Kosińska, MSc, and a short summary of the entire project by Dr. Robert Nietubyć.

Mesoscale Modeling of damageable materials and indentation-based material characterization using shape meta modeling

(1) The mechanical and transport properties of cementitious composites using a realistic morphological 3D matrix-inclusion-ITZ model for the mesoscale behavior will be discussed. Assuming a compression damaged plasticity-based behavior for the matrix phase under quasi-static loading, the model is used to determine the effect of inclusion (aggregate) shape, volume fraction and segregation on the mechanical response of the composite specimen under uniaxial loading.
