We are one of the largest scientific institutes in Central Europe. Our Centre is a unique research unit in the country. We have a very rich history and, above all, a huge scientific output, mainly in fields such as physics, nuclear and plasma technologies. We conduct basic and applied research related to nuclear energy and various areas of subatomic physics. Our work is interdisciplinary and covers the following scientific fields: physics, materials engineering, automation, electronics and space technologies, environmental engineering, mining and energy, pharmaceutical sciences.

Individual tour of the MARIA nuclear research reactor with the Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, and the Director of the National Centre for Nuclear Research, Prof. Jakub Kupecki, as well as a limited-edition LEGO set enabling the assembly of a MARIA reactor model, are among the NCBJ offerings for auction as part of the 34th edition of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration Visits NCBJ
On January 20, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research was visited by a delegation from the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), led by the newly appointed Deputy Administrator of the Office of Nuclear Nonproliferation, Dr. Matthew C. Napoli.

NCBJ and Westinghouse have signed a cooperation agreement
The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) and Westinghouse Electric Company have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at conducting joint research in the field of nuclear energy. The activities will include technological, scientific, research and implementation projects, training initiatives and support for the domestic industry in the nuclear technology value chain.

On 29 October 2025, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Centre for Research and Development visited the National Centre for Nuclear Research. The guests met with the NCBJ management and visited the MARIA research nuclear reactor.
70 years of Polish nuclear research
On September 24, 2025, at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw, a ceremonial seminar took place as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of nuclear research development in Poland, organized by NCBJ and the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology.
