We invite you to participate in the NOMATEN Winter School.

The third international CoE NOMATEN School will be held on November 28-30, 2023, at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Otwock. It will be devoted to understanding the functional properties of materials for industrial applications an d novel radiopharmaceuticals for medical applications. CoE NOMATEN School is an internal collaboration event organized annually by different NOMATEN consortium partners (NCBJ, CEA, VTT). It enables team members to exchange knowledge an d ideas on new developments an d industrial solutions within the NOMATEN project. It is a platform for young scientists to meet with colleagues from other countries an d an opportunity to build an d strengthen ties between all three nuclear-oriented research institutions.

The preliminary program of the Winter School 2023 includes topics related to the synthesis of new materials, modeling of materials deformation an d radiation damage build-up, as well as material characterization an d advanced solutions in radiopharmaceuticals an d medical therapies. A rich program has been planned for the participants of the NOMATEN Winter School, including participation in plenary presentations an d thematic sessions realized by experienced researchers, as well as sessions for young scientists an d poster sessions. The last day will also include presentations of large scientific infrastructures built over past years at NCBJ (Polfel, Neutron diffractometer facility in MARIA Reactor dedicated to structural analysis of materials) an d visits to newly established NCBJ Laboratories, including the Materials Research Laboratory, the XRay Lab, an d the SEM & TEM Microscopy Laboratories. In parallel to NOMATEN Winter School, participants will also learn about theoretical an d practical methods of intellectual property protection an d patenting new scientific solutions as part of the intellectual property rights an d protection training, which experts from CEA an d VTT will conduct.

The NOMATEN 2023 Winter School is an ideal event for young scientists an d PhD students of CoE NOMATEN who want to master basic an d advanced materials preparation an d characterization methods used in materials engineering. Participants will also learn how to prepare new radiopharmaceuticals an d verify the interaction processes of this type of drug with living cells an d tissues. The speeches will be delivered by experienced CoE NOMATEN scientists an d guests from other Polish scientific institutions (e.g., Warsaw University of Technology, Medical University of Warsaw) who are experts in materials engineering, solid-state physics, an d pharmacy. The expected number of participants is approximately 50 people.
