It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to Prof. Zbigniew Jerzy Werner.


 

Z ogromnym smutkiem żegnamy Prof. dr hab. Zbigniewa Jerzego Wernera

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Prof. Zbigniew Jerzy Werner, an outstanding scientist in the field of physics, a highly regarded researcher and an irreplaceable mentor.

Professor Werner devoted his entire professional life to science. He held a master's and doctoral degree in physics, and later a postdoctoral degree in the same discipline, which testifies to his long-standing and significant contribution to the development of Polish physics.

His numerous scientific publications and research projects have been cited both in Poland and abroad. For years, he contributed to the achievements of our Institute and the academic community by engaging in research of high scientific importance.

Professor Werner was a man of high personal culture, an outstanding scholar and a mentor to successive generations of young physicists – students, doctoral students and colleagues. His kindness, friendliness, commitment and passion for science will be remembered by all who had the honour of working with him.

His passing is a great loss to the entire scientific community. He will remain in our memory as a man with a big heart, an excellent teacher and a creator of inspiring ideas.

The Institute's colleagues and friends extend their deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.


The funeral will take place at Powązki Cemetery (Gate 4) on 13 January at 2:30 p.m.
