Prof. Andrzej Marcinkowski

Prof. Dr. Andrzej Marcinkowski passed away on Saturday, 29 May 2021.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on 7 June 2021 at 3.00 p.m. at St. Wawrzyniec Church in Wola.

Professor Andrzej Marcinkowski was born on 11 November 1933. He started his work at the Nuclear Research Institute in August 1955, getting involved in the construction of the "LECH" accelerator. The results of his research on the accelerator were included in his doctoral thesis entitled "Investigation of the ratios of active cross-sections for the formation of isomer pairs of 58gCo, 58mCo in reactions caused by fast neutrons", written under the supervision of Prof. Zdzisław Wilhemi and defended in 1967. In 1974, he obtained his habilitation, and in 1990 - the title of Professor. He was Head of the Nuclear Reactions Department at the Institute of Nuclear Problems.

The Professor retired in 2000 and was associated with the Institute until 2007. He is the author or co-author of nearly 100 papers published in renowned journals.

It is with deep regret that we bid farewell to the late Professor Andrzej Marcinkowski and extend our condolences to his family.
