Work is ongoing on the construction site of Centre for Design and Synthesis of Molecularly Targeted Radiopharmaceuticals “CERAD” in Świerk. In the site, where the three-story building and a laboratory will be situated, an old boiler room has been already demolished and its fundations are being removed. The contractor estimates 250 trucks of rubble will be disposed from the construction site. The area for the new building will be about 1300 m2. Cleaning of the area for the new investment is supposed to end as soon as the end of May. The site is already marked with an information board.

In three years, modern research infrastructure will be operated in the newly constructed building. A cyclotron with particle energy of 30 MeV will be installed there, surrounded by well-equipped research and technologic laboratories. Scientists from several research facilities operating within the building will look for new radiopharmaceuticals for therapy and diagnostics, based on biologically active ligands functioning on cellular and molecular level. Combining the isotope techniques with molecular markers of medical condition will enable an earlier detection of diseases and implementation of suitable therapeutic methods.
