September is an exceptionally busy time for the Education and Training Division when it comes to popularising science. Over the last few days, staff from the Education and Training Division have been sharing their knowledge of nuclear physics and demonstrating that topics such as radiation, reactors and nuclear power can be discussed in an engaging and accessible way.

On 18 September, Michał Kurek gave a lecture in Łowicz as part of the Łowicz Academy of Science. He spoke about the physics of nuclear reactors – from fission reactions to the MARIA reactor and modern nuclear technologies.

On 20 September, DEiS took part in the “Science with the Palace in the Background” Festival in Jabłonna. At the “Radiation Around Us” stand, visitors could enjoy demonstrations, experiments, quizzes and scientific games introducing them to the world of radiation, radioactivity and nuclear physics.

This week (21–25 September), the roles were switched – after our outreach activities, it was time to welcome guests to our premises! As part of the Science Festival, we hosted high school classes for three days. Around 180 pupils from various schools in Warsaw took part in lectures, demonstrations and experiments led by DEiS staff and specialists from other NCBJ departments.
