On 13–14 October 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research will host the sixth edition of the NOMATEN Winter School. Organized annually by the three partners of the NOMATEN Teaming project – NCBJ, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland – the event brings together researchers, PhD students and experts to share scientific achievements, exchange knowledge and strengthen international research collaboration.

Building on five previous editions, the NOMATEN Winter School has become an established platform for scientific exchange and cooperation within the consortium. This year’s programme will focus on three main research areas: nuclear materials, non-nuclear materials and radiopharmaceuticals. It will feature invited lectures, presentations by senior scientists and discussions highlighting recent scientific achievements, ongoing research activities and emerging challenges in these fields.

Particular emphasis will be placed on supporting young scientists. A dedicated PhD student session will provide early-career researchers with an opportunity to present their work, discuss their findings and receive feedback from experienced colleagues. Bringing together scientists from different disciplines and at different stages of their careers, the School aims to encourage the exchange of ideas, promote interdisciplinary research and foster future scientific collaboration.

The programme will also include visits to selected NCBJ laboratories and research facilities, offering participants an opportunity to learn more about the institute’s experimental capabilities and research infrastructure. 

Approximately 80 participants are expected to attend this year's edition. The event will offer an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships, share expertise and identify new directions for joint research, further supporting cooperation between NOMATEN Centre of Excellence, CEA and VTT.
