PROCORAD Annual Meeting 2026 in Warsaw
17-06-2026
The Association for the Promotion of Quality Control in Radiotoxicological Analysis (PROCORAD), in collaboration with National Centre for Nuclear Research, is organizing the 2026 PROCORAD Annual Meeting for radiation protection specialists.
Over the course of three days (from June 17th, 2026) in Warsaw, more than 70 radiation protection specialists from around the world will take part in a unique event combining scientific, technical, and networking elements. The main focus of these annual meetings is on lectures, the exchange of experiences, and the presentation of the latest results of radiological analyses in the frame of the current measurement campaign.
The PROCORAD Association brings together laboratories and radiation protection specialists from around the world involved in the monitoring and assessment of internal ionising radiation exposure from around the world. The organization’s primary goals are to conduct international proficiency testing for the determination of radioactive isotopes in biological samples in order to assess the quality of analysis results performed by participating laboratories and promoting best practices in the field of radiotoxicology. The Association’s activities enable accredited research laboratories to meet the requirements of the international standards ISO/IEC 17025 and NF EN ISO 1589 and maintain accreditation, as well as to meet other regulatory requirements regarding individual monitoring of workers’ exposure to ionizing radiation.
This year’s edition will focus on topics related to the medical aspects of radiation protection, such as therapeutic management in cases of suspected internal contamination with radioactive substances. Experts participating in the meeting will also discuss the role of education and training in ensuring radiation protection as well as learn about the current status of decommissioning and future perspectives for rapid management of internal exposure at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Power Plant.
The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) operates a Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory, which includes an accredited research laboratory that conducts both internal exposure monitoring of personnel and environmental monitoring at and around the NCBJ. The Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory has been a member of the PROCORAD Association for over 20 years and participates annually in intercomparisons organized by the Association. The main goal of the Laboratory’s activity is to ensure the safety of NCBJ employees and the general public in the vicinity of the facilities.
– The Annual Meeting summarizing the research campaign is organized alternately in France and one of the other European member states. This year, the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) has had the honor of hosting in Poland specialist involved in radiological research. This is a significant distinction for our laboratory. We are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the results of this year’s comparative studies and we are pleased to have the opportunity to hear the latest reports in the field of radiological protection and to participate in the discussion – commented dr. Eng. Jakub Ośko, Head of the Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory at the NCBJ.
An event like the PRCOCRAD Annual Meeting is not only a forum for sharing the latest research findings, but also an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation among leading research centers.
