Radiopharma Innovation Day 2026 – Science and Industry Together for the Future of Radiopharmacy
14-10-2026
On October 15, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research will host the first-ever Radiopharma Innovation Day 2026 – an event dedicated to the latest achievements and future directions in the development of radiopharmaceuticals. The event is organized by the NOMATEN Center of Excellence, which operates within the NCBJ.
Radiopharmacy is one of the most rapidly developing fields in modern medicine. It combines advances in radiochemistry, pharmacy, nuclear technology, and nuclear medicine, opening up new possibilities in both diagnostics and therapy. At the same time, the development of this field requires close collaboration among research laboratories, clinicians, and companies.
Representing the National Centre for Nuclear Research: the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence and the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM, together with VTT and CEA, are organizing the first Radiopharma Innovation Day symposium. The event is dedicated to scientists, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, and the business sector. The organizers hope that such events will create a space for the exchange of knowledge and experience and will help bridge the gap between the latest scientific advances and technological capabilities and the real-world needs of specialists seeking new, effective therapies.
– The development of modern radiopharmaceuticals requires a combination of knowledge and experience from many fields – ranging from chemistry and radiochemistry, through biology and pharmacy, to medicine, physics, and radioisotope production technologies. We need not only new ideas and groundbreaking discoveries, but also the appropriate infrastructure, expertise, and partners who will enable us to transform research results into solutions that address the real needs of nuclear medicine – explains dr hab. Marek Pruszyński, prof. NCBJ and a member of the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence, operating within the National Centre for Nuclear Research.
– At the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence, we focus on developing methods for the production of radioisotopes and their integration into new pharmaceuticals. Through our work, we not only improve production technologies but also raise standards of safety and radiation protection. We will present the latest research findings and innovative solutions with implementation potential to participants at Radiopharma Innovation Day. Experts from research centers will present opportunities for utilizing modern research infrastructure in projects carried out in collaboration with industry – adds dr hab. inż. Łukasz Kurpaska, prof. NCBJ and Director of the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence.
One of the goals of Radiopharma Innovation Day is to create a space for building partnerships between academia and industry and developing joint research and development projects. The future of radiopharmacy depends largely on the ability to translate research findings into technologies that can be safely and effectively developed.
The event will be attended by experts representing leading Polish scientific and research centers, including: the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology, the University of Warsaw, the Medical University of Warsaw, and the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology – National Research Institute, Gliwice Branch.
– The development of radiopharmacy in Poland and the availability of innovative radiopharmaceuticals have been the main focus of research and implementation at the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM at NCBJ for many years. We are pleased with the support from clinical centers and researchers with whom we are carrying out new projects. Within this landscape, there is still ample room to expand cooperation and utilize existing and new research infrastructure. I hope that Radiopharma Innovation Day will reveal many such opportunities, – says Prof. Renata Mikołajczak from the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM.
The development of radiopharmacy requires an interdisciplinary approach. The symposium organizers have set up a special area where representatives of pharmaceutical companies and firms involved in technology transfer and innovation development will present their activities. Symposium participants will have the opportunity to learn about the work of exceptional exhibitors, including: the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM operating at the NCBJ, manufacturers and suppliers of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, as well as other centers such as the Center for Radiopharmacy at the Medical University of Białystok.
Radiopharma Innovation Day 2026 will take place on October 15, 2026, at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Otwock-Świerk.
