At the end of August, a meeting was held at the Radiy research and production enterprise in Kropyvnytskyi between representatives of Radiy, the National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute”, and the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), represented by Prof. Agnieszka Pollo, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the NCBJ.

The purpose of the visit was to become acquainted with Radiy’s technological achievements, experience, and production in the field of information and control systems for nuclear power plants, as well as to discuss prospects for cooperation, among others in the context of the development of nuclear energy in Poland and the plans to build new nuclear power plants.

The meeting was organized with the support of Prof. Vyacheslav Kharchenko, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, head of the Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies at the Kharkiv Aviation Institute, and director of the Scientific and Technical Center for Infrastructure Security Research and Analysis. The meeting was attended by members of the management of Radiy and RadIcs. RadIcs’ Chief Operating Officer, Oleksandr Ivasiuk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, presented the company’s activities, key technological solutions, and completed projects in the field of digital instrumentation and control systems for the nuclear power industry.

The Kharkiv Aviation Institute has maintained a fruitful collaboration with the NCBJ for many years, in particular with the CyberLAB Laboratory. As part of this partnership, joint scientific and technical seminars have been organized, and joint scientific and educational projects have been carried out, among them projects in collaboration with Swedish colleagues and within the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

During the meeting, special attention was given to the prospects for development of scientific, technical, and educational cooperation. The successful experience of cooperation between the Kharkiv Aviation Institute and the NCBJ can serve as the foundation for new joint Ukrainian-Polish initiatives and projects, also making use of the opportunities offered by European and national programs.

International cooperation in the field of nuclear technology is of particular importance, as the safety of nuclear energy is not limited by national borders. The exchange of scientific knowledge and experience, joint work on innovative projects, and the training of highly qualified specialists contribute to enhancing the reliability and safety of nuclear facilities and other elements of national and international infrastructure.
