The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of
Postoc
at the High Energy Physics Division

Localization: Pasteura 7, 02-093 Warsaw
Description of tasks:
The successful candidate is expected to join and take a key role in one of the activities of the CMS group at NCBJ. The group is one of the founders of the CMS experiment with a long-term involvement (with other Warsaw labs) through design and operations of the level-1 muon trigger. The group actively participates in studies of the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism via studies of the Higgs boson and vector boson scattering processes, as well as in searches for new exotic particles, and development of tau lepton identification algorithms.
The candidate is in particular expected to:
- contribute to improvement of existing and the development of novel analysis strategies and tools
- participate in statistical interpretation of results
- help in coordination of work of students
- contribute to maintenance and development of the reconstruction and triggering algorithms of the CMS detector.
Requirements for the candidate:
- At least two years of experience in experimental particle physics after PhD;
- Experience working in a large research team;
- Experience in analysing large data-sets, statistical interpretation of results, and knowledge of statistical methods;
- Knowledge of C++ and python programming;
- Fluent English.
Additional assets:
- Experience in securing funding for scientific research;
- Experience of work in a large accelerator experiment, for instance in the CMS or ATLAS experiment;
- Practical knowledge of machine learning tools.
