The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of
Postoc
at the High Energy Physics Division
(ref. BP3_492)
Localization: Pasteura 7, 02-093 Warsaw
Description of tasks:
The person hired will be responsible for preparing tools for physics analysis and conducting analysis using data from the Hyper-Kamiokande and T2K neutrino experiments. The planned activities will include, in particular, the use of data from the near and intermediate detectors, as well as the development of software utilizing Markov chains for neutrino oscillation analysis based on Bayesian inference. The hired person will also be required to participate in the construction of the detectors (end of 2026 and 2027) and in data taking shifts in Japan, as well as to collaborate in supervising PhD students (as an auxiliary supervisor).
Requirements for the candidate:
- Internship in experimental high-energy physics (preferably neutrino experiments) Experience working in a large research team.
- Experience in data analysis, statistical interpretation of results, and knowledge of statistical and numerical methods Ability to use a variety of tools for data analysis in a large-scale experiment, preparation of publications, planning of analyses and tests.
- Good knowledge of C++ language.
- Fluent in English.
Additional assets:
- Knowledge of at least one neutrino interactions generator and neutrino interaction models.
- Experience in Bayesian analysis.
