The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) is inviting applications for a position
Student internship
ref. BP3_444
Location: Warsaw, Pasteura 7
The position will be funded within the project titled ”Tests of fundamental symmetries using polarized baryons” funding under the prestigious OPUS 27 competition organized by the National Science Centre (NCN). The Principal Investigator is prof. dr hab. Andrzej Kupść, Andrzej.Kupsc@ncbj.gov.pl
Project description:
In this project, a team of scientists from Poland, in collaboration with Uppsala University, plans to apply an innovative method for studying CP symmetry in processes involving baryons containing strange or charm quarks, using the BESIII detector at the IHEP institute in Beijing and the LHCb detector at CERN. The method stands out from previous approaches by making use of spin. The decays of spin-polarized baryons will be measured with the BESIII and LHCb detectors. The proposed analysis method will enable the acquisition of new, precise information on CP symmetry and the mechanisms of its violation.
