Prof. Jakub Kupecki becomes Chairman of the CIRE PowerUp Program Council

The director of the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), who has assumed the role of Chair of the CIRE PowerUp Programme Council, is among the experts who combine scientific expertise with a practical perspective on the development of the energy sector. This is a clear signal that the voice of the NCBJ and nuclear energy are an indispensable part of the debate on the energy transition.

Young physicists presented their projects at NCBJ. 21st “Physical Paths” Competition concluded
The final of the 21st edition of the nationwide “Physical Paths” competition took place on 17 April at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ). Students from across Poland, along with their teachers and representatives of the scientific community and public administration, gathered in Otwock. The winners have now been announced.
4NEW project inauguration
The launch of a collaboration between universities, research institutions, public administration, and industry marks an important step in Poland’s preparations for the development of nuclear energy. The National Centre for Nuclear Research was a partner of the panel discussion “Building a Nuclear Power Plant in Practice.”
Ceremonial Scientific Council
On March 10, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research held a ceremonial Scientific Council meeting, during which awards were presented for scientific and research achievements as well as organizational and technical accomplishments in 2025. During the ceremony, diplomas conferring the academic degrees of Doctor and Habilitated Doctor were also awarded.
U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration Visits NCBJ
On January 20, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research was visited by a delegation from the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), led by the newly appointed Deputy Administrator of the Office of Nuclear Nonproliferation, Dr. Matthew C. Napoli.
