NCBJ participates in the study of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), in particular the gravitational lensing of their glow. GRBs are one of the most energetic processes in the universe. The research so far has focused on the observations of high-energy gamma radiation. Scientists propose to extend the search for GRBs with multi-range observations of the glow of these phenomena. Based on numerical simulations, it was determined which objects would be the best candidates for the gravitational lens of GRB signals. On this basis, they were also able to determine how the afterglow would be observed in the less energetic ranges of the spectrum.

The first tests on a potential candidate did not provide the researchers with a definite answer supporting the hypothesis about the lensed GRB, and further research is needed. Scientists see a good chance of discovering such objects thanks to all-sky gamma observations combined with multi-range astronomy.
