What do we do?
The Department of Materials Synthesis and Characterisation deals with issues related to materials engineering and physics. In particular, it focuses on technologies for producing layers in low-temperature plasma and using systems that generate high-energy plasma. The Department also specialises in modelling and modifying materials (metals, metal alloys, semiconductors and amorphous structures). Advanced structural characterisation techniques are used, with particular emphasis on surface layers.
The structure of the Department of Materials Synthesis and Characterisation includes the Materials Synthesis Laboratory and the Surface Characterisation Laboratory.
Surface Characterisation Laboratory
The laboratory focuses on basic research into the structural properties of modern materials used in nuclear energy, microelectronics and optoelectronics.
