On 6–9 December, the Education and Training Division team took part in the 9th Silesian Science Festival in Katowice. It is one of the largest popular science events in Europe attended by the NCBJ.

At the Institute's stand, visitors could listen to stories about radioactivity and nuclear reactors. They had the opportunity to test the radioactivity of their bodies on a real radiometric gate, assemble a diagram of a nuclear power plant, and even take a virtual tour of the MARIA reactor! Our employees also organised workshops using radiometers. Thanks to this, participants of the 9th ŚFN could take on the role of scientists and examine the properties of ionising radiation themselves.

The effectiveness of the popularisers from the Education and Training Division was verified in real time – a quiz on the topics discussed at the stand was prepared for the participants. The guests did extremely well!
