Spotkanie konsorcjum projektu POLAR-2 w Pekinie

POLAR-2 project consortium meeting in Beijing

12-05-2026

At the end of April, the POLAR-2 project team met at the Centre for Space Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. In addition to the hosts, the meeting was attended by representatives of the National Centre for Nuclear Research, as well as partners from the University of Geneva and the University of Tübingen.

The visit was attended by Dominik Rybka, MSc Eng., the POLAR-2 project coordinator at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), and Grzegorz Łubian, Eng. The meeting was of a technical nature and resembled the process of working out the final details of a complex puzzle. The main topic was the integration of the POLAR-2 instrument with the Chinese Tiangong space station, i.e. the practical question: how to ensure the device operates seamlessly in space as part of a larger infrastructure.

The working group discussed the current status of the work, identified the remaining technical challenges and finalised the details of the next stages of cooperation. Particular attention was also paid to what happens on Earth – how data from the instrument will be received and how it will be controlled whilst operating in orbit. The meeting concluded with the signing of key documents, including the "Statement of Work", which formally set out the rules for the project’s further implementation.
