The Polish team, which included specialists from the National Centre for Nuclear Research, came second in the final of the “CISPA European Cybersecurity & AI Hackathon Championship”. The team qualified for the final as one of the 18 highest-ranked teams from the regional rounds across Europe.
This year’s competition brought together over 300 young specialists from leading universities and research institutions across Europe, who were able to demonstrate their technical skills, creativity and teamwork while solving tasks inspired by real-world research problems.
In the final round, second place was won by a team comprising Michał Obara and Aleksander Ogonowski from the Software Engineering Division of the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), and Mateusz Kowalczyk and Aleksander Szymczyk from the Research and Academic Computer Network – National Research Institute (NASK). The team had taken first place in the regional stage, which took place in May in Warsaw.
The prizes were awarded based on the total score from three competition tasks in the fields of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, which the finalists had to complete within 24 hours. The tasks involved, among others, recognising watermarks in text, distinguishing between training data and data generated by artificial intelligence, and reconstructing data. It was also important to present the concepts behind the solutions to the jury, which selected the winners from among the six teams with the highest scores.
The championship is organised by CISPA Helmholtz Centre for Information Security – one of Europe’s leading institutes specialising in cybersecurity and AI. The initiative aims to build a community of experts who will shape the future of digital security, which is already crucial to many areas of our lives.
Congratulations on this achievement, and we wish you continued success in your field!
