The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of

Postdoc

Localization: Pasteura 7, 02-093 Warsaw

The Astrophysics Division of the NCBJ's Department of Fundamental Research is dedicated to research in astrophysics and astronomy, mainly their observational aspects. The Department employs 19 staff members, including eight foreigners, at the rank of Assistant Professor and above. 9 PhD students from the Department of Astrophysics are being trained at the Doctoral School of the NCBJ and IChTJ.  The Department of Astrophysics offers an active research environment of the highest international standards.

We offer an employment contract for a period of 2 years with a possible extension for another year.

Description of tasks:

  • research activities and publications in the field of observational data analysis
  • supervising doctoral students and interns
  • participating in the scientific life of the Department
  • popularising scientific research
  • participation in meetings, conferences and other events organised by the Department

Requirements for the candidate:

  • PhD in physics, astronomy or equivalent discipline
  • experience in conducting research work in astrophysics, documented by publications.
  • fluency in spoken and written English

  • experience of working in an international environment and experience of applying for and winning research grants.
  • a research plan that fits into the profile of the NCBJ Astrophysics Department.
