The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of
Professor of the Institute
at the High Energy Physics Division
Location: Warsaw, Pasteura 7
Description of tasks::
The employee will be involved in research on the structure of the nucleon conducted at CERN in the AMBER experiment, and in the longer term, in the preparation of the experiment at the EIC and analysis of data collected at this accelerator in the future. The first stage of the AMBER experiment, which began in 2023, includes measurements of the proton charge radius, measurements of the cross section for the production of antiprotons, and determination of parton distribution functions for pions. The aim of the EIC is to study the three-dimensional structure of hadrons and strong interactions. The employee will be able to cooperate with a group of theoreticians working on these subjects.
Requirements for the candidate:
- Habilitation (postdoctoral degree) in physical sciences
- Experience in experimental particle physics
- Experience in working in international research team
- Experience in analyzing large data sets, statistical interpretation of results, knowledge of statistical and numerical methods
- Ability to use various tools to analyze data in a large experiment, prepare publications, plan analyzes and tests
- Experience in obtaining research grants
- Fluent knowledge of English
