The Department is implementing the PolFEL project, which aims to build Poland's first free-electron laser. This laser will be a source of radiation for research at the intersection of physics, chemistry, biology and materials science. Our department is responsible for the design, construction, development and maintenance of the infrastructure necessary for its operation – from laser systems, magnetic systems and optics to experimental stations, precision measurement systems and accelerator control and synchronisation systems.

Our scientists design and implement dedicated engineering solutions – from precision mechanics, through electronics and optics, to complex control systems. We create proprietary electronic systems and software for real-time control, acquisition and analysis of data, tailored to the specific needs of experiments.

At the same time, we develop and utilise unique high-energy plasma systems and technological plasma devices. We deal with various experimental and simulation techniques in the field of surface engineering, thin film synthesis and plasma-matter interactions.

We combine engineering, science and modern technologies, supporting the development of world-class Polish research infrastructure. We build flexible, technologically advanced solutions that meet the needs of modern science and industry – both today and in the perspective of future, even more ambitious research projects.
