Researchers from the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Łukasiewicz Research Network’s Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (IMiF) and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (AGH), have investigated the influence of local atomic order and secondary phases on the thermal properties of a CoCrFeNi alloy. The results show that changes occurring at the atomic level can influence the behaviour of the material, and that spontaneously formed strengthening phases can enhance its potential for high-temperature applications.

Young physicists presented their projects at NCBJ. 21st “Physical Paths” Competition concluded
The final of the 21st edition of the nationwide “Physical Paths” competition took place on 17 April at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ). Students from across Poland, along with their teachers and representatives of the scientific community and public administration, gathered in Otwock. The winners have now been announced.
4NEW project inauguration

Ceremonial Scientific Council
On March 10, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research held a ceremonial Scientific Council meeting, during which awards were presented for scientific and research achievements as well as organizational and technical accomplishments in 2025. During the ceremony, diplomas conferring the academic degrees of Doctor and Habilitated Doctor were also awarded.
U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration Visits NCBJ
On January 20, 2026, the National Centre for Nuclear Research was visited by a delegation from the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), led by the newly appointed Deputy Administrator of the Office of Nuclear Nonproliferation, Dr. Matthew C. Napoli.
