Last week, the 32nd International Conference on Nuclear Physics, organised by the National Centre for Nuclear Research and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, took place. This year's conference was dedicated to the 80th birthday of Prof. Krzysztof Pomorski, who was associated with UMCS for many years and is currently an employee of the NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division. The event was full of fruitful deliberations, lively discussions and beautiful memories.

The International Conference on Nuclear Physics has been held since 1994. It was initiated by Prof. Krzysztof Pomorski. The topics discussed included: atomic nucleus fission and other decay reactions, heavy ion collisions, effective nuclear interaction, symmetry and its breaking in nuclear physics, and the structure of the atomic nucleus. The event brought together over 50 scientists from around the world.

This year's edition highlighted Prof. Pomorski's influence on the conference itself, on contemporary nuclear physics, and on the education of new generations of researchers. Despite being 80 years old, the professor is still academically active and involved in the development of nuclear physics, as evidenced, among other things, by the recently published textbook on atomic nucleus theory, co-authored by Prof. Krzysztof Pomorski and Prof. Bożena Nerlo-Pomorska.
