Today in Gdynia, during the opening of the Military Electronics Centre, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Centre for Nuclear Research and OBR CTM SA (Research and Development Centre for Maritime Technology SA), which is part of the Polish Defence Group.

Last week, the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) was visited by a delegation of representatives from the Wielkopolska Region, led by Jacek Bogusławski, as well as members of the Wielkopolska Council for Nuclear Energy, representing the Poznań University of Technology, the Poznań University of Life Sciences, the Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Turkish Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the visit was to establish cooperation between the NCBJ and universities in Wielkopolska, as well as other entities, in areas such as research projects, research and development, and the training of personnel specializing in nuclear energy.

NCBJ improves molybdenum-99 production efficiency

Molybdenum-99, produced in the MARIA reactor, is the isotope most commonly used in nuclear medicine procedures. Scientists at the National Centre for Nuclear Research have improved the isotope production process, which will increase its efficiency and reduce costs by as much as 14%. The optimisation and stabilisation of production will make it possible to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients.

NCBJ supports the establishment of a European Space Agency centre in the Warsaw Metropolitan Area

The European Space Agency is planning to build a Technology Centre in Poland. The decision to locate the project within the Warsaw Metropolitan Area has been supported by representatives of the City of Warsaw administration, the Mazovia Voivodeship local government, companies from the space sector, research organisations and scientific institutions. During the event, a letter of intent was signed on behalf of the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) by Prof. Agnieszka Pollo, Deputy Director for Science.

The 19th Congress of the Polish Society of Nuclear Medicine took place in Łódź at the end of May. Representatives from the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM attended the meeting and presented their research achievements. One of the participants, Monika Wyczółkowska from the POLATOM Research Department, was honoured by the Committee with an award for the best oral presentation at the Congress.
