The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of
Assistant professor
Localization: ul. Pasteura 7, 02-093 Warszawa
The person hired will be involved in research on the structure of the nucleon conducted at CERN in the AMBER and COMPASS experiments, and in the longer term, in preparations for the experiment at the EIC and the analysis of data collected at this accelerator in the future. The first stage of the AMBER experiment, which began in 2023, includes measurements of the proton charge radius, measurements of the cross section for antiproton production, and the determination of parton distribution functions for pions. The aim of the EIC is to study the three-dimensional structure of hadrons and strong interactions. The hired person will have the opportunity to collaborate with a group of theorists in NCBJ, working on these topics.
Requirements for the candidate:
- PhD in physical sciences
- Internship in experimental high-energy physics
- Experience working in a large research team
- Experience in analysing large data sets, statistical interpretation of results, and knowledge of statistical and numerical methods
- Ability to use a variety of tools for data analysis in a large-scale experiment, preparation of publications, planning of analyses and tests
- Experience in securing funding for scientific research
- Fluent in English
